Gaelscoil an Chuilinn is an Irish-language school that was established in Dublin in 2012. Their aim as a school community is to create a welcoming, cooperative, communicative atmosphere, in which their students can get the best possible start in life and we have to say, they’re really delivering on that aim!

The campus has a fantastic variety of habitats and recreation areas, and the addition of an urban forest here will bring even more wildlife and biodiversity - and educational resources - into this wonderful school.

We were delighted to work with the students on their Soil Prep event on the 19th June 2023 and their planting day on the 1st December - everyone joined in the fun, and it all went swimmingly!

We were delighted to partner with AWS InCommunities as we delivered Urban Forests through the 2023/24 planting season.

AWS were the Lead Sponsor for this wonderful forest developed in Gaelscoil an Chuilinn, bringing biodiversity and nature into the heart of this wonderful Gaelscoil in the Tyrrelstown community. Their sponsorship meant that this forest was provided at no cost to the school, keeping the school’s funds where they’re most needed

AWS volunteers came along and worked like Trojans during the forest creation events, helping the students to cover the forest floor with cardboard and bark mulch.

Planting Day - 1st December 2023

A chilly start to the morning on Planting Day, but the bark mulch had done its job and the ground was soft and warm underneath, ready for the tree roots to make themselves at home!

These fantastic students helped plant 425 trees in their new urban forest.

We were joined on the day by volunteers from Brennan’s Bread, AWS InCommunities (our forest sponsor!), school parents and local community members.
