Established in 2008 under the Patronage of Dublin and Dun Laoghaire Education and Training Board, Donabate Community College strives to promote excellence in every aspect of their school.

The school offers a wide range of subjects and they are fortunate to have state of the art facilities that give the students the greatest opportunity to fulfil their potential.

Their caring and committed staff work in partnership with the students, Board of Management, Parents and the wider community to make the experience of attending school as enjoyable and rewarding as possible.

They have a fantastic focus on horticulture and encourage students to enjoy and experience the outdoors. We just know the addition of their very own Urban Forest will only add to that experience!

Forest Sponsors

We’re very lucky to be supported by our corporate partners who contribute towards our forest creations. Their support ensures that we can deliver these forests with no financial cost to the school.

We are also delighted when our partners join us on the event days to help us deliver the forest creation, as they did for the Soil Preparation event in Donabate Community College in July 2023.

In Donabate, the community also came together and sponsored more trees! These generous sponsors are listed below.

Soil Prep Day - 14th July 2023

It was a rainy day for the soil prep event - but not as bad as the yellow rain warning had us expecting! Because of its sheltered location, Donabate tends to experience a bit of a microclimate - so the torrential rain wasn’t THAT torrential! Yes, we all got wet and muddy - but sure, that’s half the fun! A little gentle encouragement from the rain to work faster meant we flew through the work, and got to have a cuppa and cake as a reward!

Thanks to all of the volunteers, both local and from further away. It was a great day, and we loved seeing so many people engage in the process. Thanks to Dodder Action Group, Donabate Tidy Towns, Portrane Village Renewal Group - PVRG & Tidy Towns, The Climate Ambassadors, Turvey Allotment holders, and all the wonderful students, parents and staff of Donabate Community College who joined in. Well done, and see you later in the year for tree planting!!

Planting Day - 21st November 2023

We got better weather for the planting day in November, and what a fantastic event it was!

530 trees were planted in the urban forest itself, and the students went on to plant another 50 trees around the school after lunch! What amazing students!

We were joined on the day by volunteers from Member First Credit Union, Aviate Credit Union, Dodder Action, The Green Party, Donabate Tidy Towns, school parents and local community members.

Spurred on by the promise of tea and sandwiches, everyone got stuck in and we were all planted up in record time!
